The Big Lunch neighbourhood get-together
- Date: 1-2 June 2019
- Where: Your own neighbourhood!
The Big Lunch is the UK's biggest annual get together for neighbours. It's a simple idea from the Eden Project: that as many people as possible across the UK have lunch with their neighbours annually on a weekend in June in a simple act of community, friendship and fun.
What is a Big Lunch?
The Big Lunch is about millions of people getting together to share food, have fun and get to know each other better. A Big Lunch can be anything from a small gathering in a garden, park or driveway, to a larger party with tables down the middle of your street.
Why host a Big Lunch?
Because getting together and sharing a bite to eat over a natter is fun, it’s as simple as that. We’ve also seen that great things happen when people get together; last year (2018) 4.5 million new friendships were formed because of The Big Lunch, and quite often Big Lunches lead to people wanting to do more in their new found communities.
